CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
"Chimpanzee," the new Disney flick is narrated by Tim Allen, is just one of the new movies opening in theaters Friday.
Zac Efron's latest "The Lucky One" and "Think Like a Man", based on comedian Steve Harvey's book also open Friday.
So are they worth your money?
Fans of Nicholas Sparks books - many have become films like "The Notebook" or "Message In A Bottle" - will likely make a beeline for "The Lucky One."
That's obviously true about the legion of Zac Efron fans as well.
Unfortunately, they will see yet another sappy, totally predicable romantic tear-jerker, as was the case with Sparks' "Nights in Rodanthe."
The good news: Efron does a nice job as the Iraq veteran in search of the woman in a photo he feels saved his life. It's clear he's moving successfully from that teen heartthrob thing to become a true, leading man.
Also opening is "Think Like a Man" with Micahel Ealy, Regina Hall, Tarji P. Henson and Meghan Good.
The film is based on Steve Harvey's best-selling book. It's about four very different - but inter-connected - guys who find their romances all messed up, after the woman they are chasing read Harvey's book and took it to heart.
Though mildly entertaining, this is one film you can wait to rent.
Finally, a wonderful family-friendly film is also opening this weekend.
"Chimpanzee," narrated by actor Tim Allen and China Anne McClain, follows the life of young chimp Oscar as he makes his way in the African jungle. It's charming, good-hearted and informative to boot.
This is definitely a must-see.
Have fun at the movies this weekend!
