'Amazing Spider-Man' a very, very good film: Zwecker

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
"The Amazing Spider-Man" brings us one of the best casts -- with some terrific actings -- that we don't normally see in the typical, 3D, big-budget summer blockbusters.
Andrew Garfield and his real-life significant other, Emma Stone, not surprisingly have terrific on-screen chemistry -- but that's also true with the remainder of the key cast members, including Martin Sheen, Denis Leary, Rhys Ifans and Sally Field.
My only complaint is that the producers and writers went back and basically gave us the same story line we got 10 years ago -- in the Tobey Maguire original. I would have like to see more than just the introduction of The Lizard on the big screen -- which Ifans does well as the film's conflicted villain.
But speaking of the Lizard -- I also was disappointed in the special effects involving that character.
All that said, the film is a solid piece of filmmaking -- well directed and with great action sequences.
