Quinn to kill legislative scholarship program as investigation of senator continues

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
Governor Quinn will sign a bill Wednesday to kill the long abused legislative scholarship program.
The ban comes as federal authorities investigate a West Side lawmaker who was criticized for the way she handed out the perk.
Sen. Annazette Collins lost her democratic primary in march after it was suspected that she gave scholarships to students outside of her district.
Collins is latest in a long line of legislators who have come under fire for giving out the tuition waivers to friends, relatives and campaign contributors.
