CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The Taste of Chicago kicked off Wednesday with big changes to the line-up, length and security.

Wednesday night, Chicago police say it was uneventful, and that's a good thing.

Mayor Emanuel introduced Taste-headliner Jennifer Hudson.

Folks paid 25 bucks at the Petrillo Band Shell to watch the Oscar-winner perform.

Among the other acts performing in coming days: Chaka Khan and Death Cab for Cutie.

As for security, emergency phones are available at almost all the restaurant booths, with instant access to police.

There are bag checks at the entrance and pockets of police officers make their way through crowds.

Police mobile units are helped by large cameras around Grant Park.

One officer tells Fox Chicago News about 60 officers from ten different units are patrolling the five-day festival.
