We all know about websites that hook you up with dates. But a growing corner of the internet for people who've had dating mishaps.
A few months ago we told you about WhatWentWrong.com, which helps people find out why a love-interest suddenly blew them off.
Now another app is taking the concept a step backwards. It helps daters do the blowing-off, in real-time, right in the middle of the date.
If you're ever stuck on a date that's gone bad, or is going nowhere, the "Bad Date Rescue" app might help.
It fakes an emergency phone call to you. Your phone rings and it looks like someone from your address book is calling. You can pick anyone you want.
Then a voice on the other end said something like: your sister is having a baby, a pipe burst in your apartment, or the computers at work are all down. The point is – you've got to leave.
You can program your phone to ring in five seconds, one minute, or five minutes.
In case your acting skills are weak, the call will even prompt you on what to say back.
It's slightly ironic that the app is made by "E-Harmony." Apparently even they know it can't be a match every time.
Bad dating experiences are definitely good business. The app "Bad Online Dates" lets people share their dating horror stories with one another.
Its owner lives in Los Angeles and said she just got a deal for a dating-show on a TV network. Her business model is based on the fact that half the adults in America are single, and finding "the one" is hard.
FOX Chicago talked about the "Bad Date Rescue" app with folks along Michigan Avenue. Most said honesty might be a better policy -- but they'd still choose the app.
