In response to the outcry, Patrick Sandusky a spokesman for the U.S. Olympic Committee tweeted, "All this talk about Olympic uniforms made in China is nonsense. Polo RL is an American company that supports American athletes".
A different spokesman then changed the tune with this statement: "We take seriously the concerns we've heard from members of Congress and the American public. We are absolutely committed to working with our sponsors to ensure that the concerns voiced are addressed."
The clothing designer Barbara Bates makes all of her clothes right here in Chicago.
She says if she got the Olympic order, she would've found a way to make the uniforms in America too -- even it costs more than China. She's surprised the Olympic committee didn't require it. Still, she says the anger seems over-the-top.
Critics, she says, also need to look at themselves because we all buy stuff from China.
