ROCKFORD, Ill. (Associated Press) -
Federal officials say a 25-year-old Army sergeant from Rockford has died in Afghanistan.
The U.S. Department of Defense announced Sunday that Michael Ristau died Friday in the Zabul province of wounds sustained when his vehicle was attacked with an improvised explosive device.
He was assigned to the 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.
