Woman stabbed in face in Gold Coast

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A woman is in critical condition after she was stabbed in the face and the abdomen in the Gold Coast neighborhood.

Police said a 66-year-old man stabbed the 41-year-old woman at the intersection of Chicago and State around 5:30 Sunday night.

Police said there was some kind of verbal argument between the two, but there's no word yet on whether the two knew each other.

The man ran from the scene, but police caught him near Holy Name Cathedral shortly after the attack. The knife was also recovered.

The woman is being treated at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
