GABE CARIMI  #72 Tackle

24 years old

6'7", 316 lbs.

2nd season / Wisconsin

Bio - Gabe Carimi, the Bears first round draft pick last year, was only able to play two games last season due to knee injury. Four-year starter at Wisconsin where he was a two-time All-American, two-time All-Big Ten, and four-time academic all-BigTen. His senior year he was named the Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year as he started all 13 games at left tackle, helped Badger rushers tie a Big Ten record for 48 touchdowns, and took part in Wisconsin's Big Ten championship. Carimi's knee injury in 2011 is his second in just four years. The Bears selected the former Badger to help patch up a struggling offensive line. Carimi's presence in the protection of Jay Cutler could mean a whole lot for the offense.

Lou CanellisLou's CallUnfortunate he played only 1.5 games his rookie season. Offensive Coordinator Mike Tice, who's coached Hall of Fame offensive lineman in the past, feels Carimi is the one guy on the offensive line who could end up in Canton. The Bears love him at right tackle even though he was a left tackle in college. In my opinion, if Chris Williams and J'Marcus Webb fail to protect Cutler's backside at left tackle, Gabe will be headed to the position he manned at Wisconsin.

Tom WaddleTom's TakeWe really don't know what kind of player Gabe is. If healthy, I believe he can be a solid right tackle. He's big and strong and can be a force in the running game, but must get more comfortable with pass protection at the NFL level.

Dionne MillerDionne's ViewSecond chance at a rookie season for last years top draft pick. Stay healthy and I think he delivers. He's from Wisconsin, built like a tree…what could go wrong?
