CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
The London Olympic Games are in full swing and one of the most anticipated events is the women's gymnastics all around team event.
Olympic champion Kerri Strug competed in 1992 in Spain and again in 1996 in Atlanta. Her vault at the 1996 Games remains one of The Games most iconic moments, when she competed with a sprained ankle, to help team USA win the gold.
That was also the last time Team USA won the team gold.
Strug joined Good Day Chicago to speak on the London 2012 Olympic women's gymnastics team, and what she thinks the key to Team USA's chance for gold will be.
She also shared a new way FOX Chicago viewers can share their support with America's gymnasts. The athletes will be able to see your messages of encouragement online.
Former Olympian Ruth Riley also joined Good Day Chicago to speak on her experience competing in Athens, Greece. She and the 2004 women's basketball team won the gold medal that year.
She spoke on this year's team, and who she thinks their main competition will be.
Riley is also a spokesperson for the non-profit organization "Nothing But Nets." She spoke on what that organization has set out to accomplish.
Two members of the Chicago Sky are in London for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games, playing for the USA women's basketball team: Swin Cash and Sylvia Fowles.
