Robert D. Grant, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago office of the FBI, announced his retirement Monday.
His last day is Sept. 3.
His announcement comes about one month after U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald left his position, following nearly 11 years in office. Fitzgerald and Grant worked closely together in tackling public
corruption in the city and state.
Grant came to the Chicago office in 2004 and became one of the longest-serving special agents in charge in the country.
Under Grant, the FBI headed up some of the state's most significant investigations including Rod Blagojevich's public corruption case.
