CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Lance Brigs #55 Linebacker

DOB: 11/12/80

6'1", 214 lbs.

10th season / Arizona

Bio - The seven-time Pro-Bowler enters his tenth season as a Bear this year currently with the third most tackles (1,286) in franchise history. Paired up with teammate Brian Urlacher in 2005 & 06' as the first linebacker duo in almost 20 years to be selected to back-to-back Pro Bowls together. As one of the team's veterans, Briggs led by example last year. His 147 tackles led the team and he added to the turnover contribution forcing two fumbles and grabbing one interception. The Bears have been one of the more successful teams defensively over the recent years and Briggs is key factor of that. The California native has started every game he has played in since 2004.

Lou CanellisLou's Call – The most under appreciated player on this team. Seriously, when people talk about MVP's, does Briggs name ever come up? Briggs did not miss even ONE defensive snap in 2011, he was on the field for all 1,081 defensive snaps. He turned 31 years old last Nov and responds to questions about the linebackers age by describing themselves as "vintage." General Manager Phil Emery knows how valuable Briggs is, that's why he gave Lance a one year contract extension worth $7 million of new money. Emery didn't have to do that but the move will play HUGE dividends in the Bears locker room. Players immediately earned respect for their new boss. Briggs will earn his 8th straight Pro Bowl invite and has a very good chance to finally win that Super Bowl ring.

Tom WaddleTom's Take – Lance is a perennial Pro Bowler and I have no reason to believe that he won't make his annual appearance on the NFC All Star team. He has owned the weak side of Lovie's defense for years. Expect more of the same.

Dionne MillerDionne's View – The other half of the heart of the Bears D. Why opponents don't want to go over the Midway and face the Monsters. Most consistent defender maybe in the league. He'll make it 8 straight Pro Bowls. Briggs agrees this is the best Bears team he's played on. Again, I believe him.
