Bear Facts: G/C Roberto Garza

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Roberto Garza #63 Guard/Center

DOB: 3/26/79

6'2", 310 lbs.

12th season / Texas A&M Kingsville

Bio - Entering his 8th season with the Bears, Garza is a team captain and a stalwart on the offensive line, starting in 101 out of 110 games played. In 2011, he was a key component in helping the Bears pass the 2,000 yard rushing mark (2,015) for only the second time in 21 years, while also averaging 4.4 yards per carry (highest team total since 1990). Garza was also instrumental in the success of his team's rusher, blocking for a 1,000 yard rusher in five different seasons. Throughout his NFL career, he's made starts at each of the interior offensive line sports in 132-162 career games. His consistency and reliability on the offensive line will prove to be valuable to the Bears offense in 2012.

Lou CanellisLou's Call – unsung hero on this team. Anyone miss Olin Kreutz in 2010? All Garza does is go out, do his job, and keeps his mouth shut. He made the move to center and because of his work ethic and way he goes about his job, instantly became the new leader of the guys upfront. He hadn't played a game at center in 6 years before the 2011 season but because he's one of the smarter guys you'll ever meet, he picked the position back up with ease. Garza is the oldest guy on the offensive line and gives true definition to the word, ANCHOR of the offensive line.

Tom Waddle Tom's Take – Garza is a reliable veteran who gives this line a stable anchor. He has done a nice job transitioning from guard to center. I have no worries with Garza. He will once again do his job well.

Dionne Miller Dionne's View – Reliable, consistent – words you want to use for your center. He plays his role to perfection and is respected in the locker room. Priceless!!
