Ill. congressman proposes tax breaks for Olympians

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A U.S. congressman from Peoria has proposed a tax break for medal-winning Olympians.

Right now, the winning athletes are taxed on their prize money along with the value of the medal itself.

Now, Aaron Schock has introduced a bill to make an exception for Olympic medals and bonuses.

If it passes, it would apply to prizes and awards this year.
