CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

For the second year in a row, rain attempted to dampen music lovers' spirits during Lollapalooza, over the weekend.

When the rain stopped it left a muddy mess, but that didn't stop the party.

"The rain made it even better because all the mud," concert-goer, Jason Porter said. "They went crazy in the mud."

They saw the grounds being damaged further by partiers.

"It was pretty muddy, they were pretty torn up," Ian Edward Lane added. "I mean fans don't care when they want to see who they want to see."

Organizers were preparing to survey that damage, according to the Grant Park Conservancy president Bob O'Neill.

"Hutchinson Field on the south end is the largest field in Grant Park for Lollapalooza that is sunken in so," O'Neill said. "When it rained very quickly and very heavily it flooded a lot of areas."

The Grant Park Conservancy added that this year's drought may have prevented the worst damage.

"Overall, the entire park is not as bad as last year because the soil wasn't as saturated from record rainfall," O'Neill added.

Friends of the Parks president Erma Tranter said a major change this year in the event's contract was expected to stop a repeat of last year. It took months to repair that damage.

"The park district has put it in the contract, that they will repair the fields or get them repaired by contract and bill C3 Presents," Tranter added.

Concert organizers, will also plant new trees, gardens and bushes, according to officials.

"Grant Park will be in better shape than when they found it," O'Neill said.
