Three females were hurt in a two-vehicle rollover crash early Sunday that led to two related wrecks on the Bishop Ford Freeway (I-94).
The crash happened about 3:20 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the expressway around 120th Street, according to Illinois State Police District Chicago Master Sergeant Mark Hall.
One female was ejected from a vehicle in the crash and was seriously wounded, but the injuries are not expected to be life-threatening, state police said. Two other females were also hospitalized.
Several motorists in the southbound lanes of the Bishop Ford Freeway that were looking at the crash were involved in a crash that resulted in minor injuries, state police said.
About 10 minutes later, a drunk driver hit several vehicles in the northbound lanes of the Bishop Ford Freeway that were slowing down for the original crash, according to state police. No one was seriously hurt in the crash.
The drunk driver fled the scene and state police put out the person's license plate on the radio, which is when they were informed that Burnham Police had stopped a vehicle with that plate, state police.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested for DUI, state police said. The driver's identity was not available Sunday morning.
A message left with Burnham Police was not immediately returned.
All lanes in both directions of the Bishop Ford Freeway were open as of 5 a.m.
