CRAIG STELTZ #20 Safety

DOB: 5/7/86

6'1", 210

5th / Louisiana State

Bio - During his four seasons with Chicago, Steltz has appeared in 48 games and started in seven. He has recorded 71 career tackles (43 solo), one interception, one PBU, one sack, 2 forced fumbles, and 3 TFLs. Steltz is also credited with 37 special team stops. In the 2011 season, he recorded career highs in tackles (48). TFLs (3), PBUs (1) and sacks (1), finishing fourth on the team with 12 special teams tackles (the second most in his career; he had 13 in 2008).

Lou CanellisLou's Call – Steltz is a good guy who finally stepped up the final month of last season. He isn't the most athletic defensive back but he has great anticipation skills and played well in 4 starts to end last season. He's a solid insurance policy should Wright or Conte go down.

Tom WaddleTom's Take – Steltz provides depth at safety and should be part of the special teams core. Steady, not spectacular, Steltz has made improvement year to year.

Dionne MillerDionne's View – Smart player and he works hard. This is why the Bears have kept him around. Need big things from him if he's going to earn playing time at Strong Safety. He will stick around if he again makes a difference on special teams.
