CHICAGO RIDGE, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

One of the stars of MTV's "Real World" was found dead by authorities in southwest suburban Chicago Ridge on Friday morning.

Joseph Eugene "Joey" Kovar, 29, of the 2600 block of West 98th Street in Evergreen Park was discovered dead at an apartment in the 9800 block of South Sayre Avenue at 8:59 a.m., according to officials.

Kovar appeared on MTV's "Real World: Hollywood," which premiered in April 2008. Halfway through the show, Kovar entered a 30-day rehab program for drug and alcohol abuse. He later returned to the series and took pride in staying sober.

But in 2010, Kovar appeared on VH1's "Celebrity Rehab." He battled an addiction to alcohol, cocaine, ecstasy and crystal meth, according to the show's website, and once overdosed. He had also used steroids as a bodybuilder, the website said.

The Chicago Ridge police statement said foul play did not appear to be a factor in Kovar's death.
