Mayor Emanuel completes Chicago Triathlon

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Mayor Rahm Emanuel clocked in three minutes faster at Sunday's Chicago Sprint Triathlon than he did last year.

Emanuel finished the triathlon's sprint at 1 hour, 33 minutes and 46 seconds. He placed 438 overall among the 2272 finishers and 27 in the division for men between 50 and 54 years old.

In 2011, Emanuel crossed the finish line at 1 hour, 36 minutes and 50 seconds. A month before that year's triathlon, Emanuel suffered an ankle injury.

"Truthfully, I hurt my ankle today," Emanuel said at a news conference in July 2011. "I did my mile swim. I was running and hit the sidewalk wrong. So I'm not gonna stand long. But don't take it personally."
