Little girl almost abducted while playing in Daley Plaza

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A man tried to abduct a little girl right in front of her father in Daley Plaza Saturday night.

James Gates was sitting in Cook County Jail Tuesday, accused of trying to kidnap 2-year-old Myla Davis.

Myla was playing on the Picasso sculpture with her older sister when 55-year-old Gates walked up and grabbed her.

He called her "Goldilocks" – because of her pretty, blonde ringlets - and told bystanders he was her father.

But Myla's real father was there, fought the kidnapper off and chased him through the streets until they came across Chicago police officers.

Myla's family said the girls are still having trouble sleeping at night, days after the incident.
