"Eastwooding" takes internet by storm - My50 Chicago - Television - WPWR

From the most talked about convention speech comes an internet fad greater than "Tebowing," "planking," and "owling" combined: "Eastwooding."

Academy-award winning actor, Clint Eastwood, took to the RNC stage as an opening act for Mitt Romney Thursday night, grabbing laughs for a somewhat bizarre off-the-cuff speech full of President Obama bashing and even an audience-involved "make my day" chant.

But, by far the most entertaining and talked about portion of the night came when Eastwood had a dialogue with an empty chair, posing questions to an invisible Obama.

Soon after, a new internet meme was born. Photos of people talking and pointing to empty chairs blew up on social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

There's even a Twitter account called @InvisibleObama where an invisible chair re-tweets those "Eastwooding" photos.

Barack Obama himself also found humor in the night and took to his Twitter account to respond. The president posted a picture of himself in his cabinet meeting chair with a message, "This seat's taken."

While some thought Clint's speech was a disaster, others say he stole the show. Either way, people certainly took notice—especially on the internet.
