Computer upgrade causes problems for patients at Stroger Hospital

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A computer upgrade is causing a huge mess for people who get medicine at Stroger Hospital.

On Friday morning there were hundreds of people waiting to get their medications refilled. The hospital says the backups are due to a technical issue with new software.

Many patients, like Carlos Sanchez, had to be sent home today.

"It was a mess. It was a catastrophe going on in there. They sent me over there, I came over here. When I came over here, it was at least 350 people. I never seen such a thing."

Some say they're getting the run-around from the hospital.

"Right now people feel real sad because they been three days without their medication and its real important," said another patient.

Stroger Hospital says the pharmacy will be open this weekend to make sure everybody gets their medication.
