Blinds recalled following death of young girl

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

More than 450,000 blinds made by a company in Michigan are being recalled following the death of a 2-year-old girl.

The blinds were made by Blind Xpress of Livonia, Michigan and sold between 1995 and December of 2011.

The problem involves the chords on the vertical and horizontal blinds.

The young girl was strangled in the chords.

Consumers are being asked to stop using the blinds immediately and contact the window covering safety council for a free repair kit.
