Man attempts to kidnap girl on Southwest Side

Police have issued an alert after a man tried to kidnap a 14-year-old girl by attempting to grab her in the Southwest Side Brighton Park neighborhood Wednesday morning.

The incident happened about 8 a.m. Wednesday in the 4500 block of South Kedzie Avenue, the alert said. The man attempted to lure the girl by asking her to go with him and attempting to grab her by her backpack. The girl was able to avoid being grabbed by running away from the man.

The man was described as a male white Hispanic, between 30 and 40 years old, 5-feet, 5-inches tall and between 190-230 pounds. He had an olive complexion, black mustache, and was wearing a black puffy jacket, black Chicago Bulls skull cap with a red Bull head logo, and he was missing some front teeth. The man also spoke only Spanish, according to the alert.
