State Street will be closed to vehicles for five hours Saturday in the Loop.
"Open Streets" will close State Street to vehicles at Monroe Street from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, according to Open Streets Chicago. The free event is intended to provide a safe public space "for families to get out and have fun."
The event offers a mobile skate park, yoga and relay races, according to Open Streets Chicago, which said local businesses -- including restaurants and retail stores -- will offer discounts during the event.
Open Streets will close Milwaukee Avenue in Wicker Park / Bucktown Sept. 16.
