Prosecution rests case in Vaughn murder trial

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Prosecutors have rested at the trial of a suburban Chicago computer specialist accused of shooting dead his wife and three young children in the family car.

They rested Wednesday after calling around 80 witnesses over three weeks in their bid to convict Christopher Vaughn.

Their witnesses included forensics experts who testified it must have been Vaughn who pulled the trigger and a stripper Vaughn allegedly confided in about his marital troubles.

Vaughn claims his wife, Kimberly, is to blame for the 2007 shootings that occurred as the family traveled to a water park.

He says she killed 12-year-old Abigayle, 11-year-old Cassandra and 8-year-old Blake, then killed herself after becoming distraught over strains in their marriage.

Prosecutors say the Oswego man killed the family so he could move to Canada.
