A young man approximately 18 years old was shot to death on a sidewalk in the Far South Side West Pullman neighborhood early Saturday.
Police responded to the 0 to 100 block of West 122nd Street about 1:50 a.m. to investigate a call of shots fired, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.
When officers arrived they found the victim dead on the sidewalk with several gunshot wounds to the head, Alfaro said. Another man, 21 years old, was also wounded in the shooting, police said. That victim was shot in the foot and ran to a home after the shooting, from where he called police and fire to the scene, News Affairs Officer Robert Perez said.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's office was not releasing the victim's name as of about 10 a.m. but they listed his age as 17. Perez said the victim was approximately 18 years old.
As of late Saturday morning the motive for the shooting was unknown and no one was in custody.
