AURORA, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
Police are looking for additional victims of a west suburban man charged with sexually assaulting a woman he met on a dating website earlier this year.
Derrick D. Chaney, 37, of the 3300 block of Allspice Court in Aurora was charged Friday with three counts of criminal sexual assault, and single counts of unlawful restraint and kidnapping, according to Aurora police.
Chaney met the Davenport, Iowa, woman on a dating website, police believe. After corresponding on the Internet and phone for several weeks, Chaney met the woman on Jan. 14 at a motel in the 2300 block of North Farnsworth Avenue in Aurora, a release from police said.
Chaney allegedly held the 31-year-old woman against her will and sexually assaulted her, according to police.
He is being held at the Kane County Correctional Center in St. Charles on $500,000 bond.
During the investigation, police learned Chaney may have met other women through various dating websites like blackpeoplemeet.com and plentyoffish.com or possibly by frequenting nightclubs in the northwest suburbs, including John Barleycorn in Schaumburg.
He provided false information as to his name, occupation, financial status and education level, the release said. He drives several luxury vehicles, is well dressed and brags about having VIP status at the clubs.
Detectives are investigating other similar crimes that may involve Chaney and are asking other women who may have been victimized to contact (630) 256-5500.
