CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
The stars were definitely out in force Thursday night for the opening of the 48th Annual Chicago International Film Festival, and FOX Chicago News was on the red carpet at the Harris Theater.
The opening night film "Stand Up Guys" also had some strong Chicago connections. It's produced by Oscar-winning Chicago native Tom Rosenberg and directed by another native son, Fisher Stevens.
The film also stars a trio of Academy Award winners: Christopher Walken, Alan Arkin And Al Pacino. They gave me a little sense of "Stand Up Guys" to share with viewers.
Music superstar and actor Jon Bon Jovi also walked the red carpet Thursday night. He may have received the most screams from the fans as he arrived at the Harris Theater.
Bon Jovi has penned a couple of songs for this film's soundtrack - something he hasn't done in quite some time. He filled me in on how that came about.
Over the next two weeks, 150 films will be shown at the Chicago International Film Festival at the AMC River East and other venues around town. Plus there will be special events featuring actresses Joan Allen, Viola Davis And Helen Hunt.
There will also be some new programs, including a series focusing on films from the Middle East.
