Some cities have super-strict rules about disability leave when it comes to their workers.
One police officer had to go to court to be at his own wedding and stay for the whole thing.
The case has been getting news coverage in Ramapo, New York - a suburb north of Manhattan.
Modestino Giusto, 35, has been on disability leave for 15 months. He was injured during taser training.
Ramapo officers on disability get paid tax-free, and get all benefits and scheduled raises.
But while on disability, they continue to be scheduled for regular shifts and have to stay inside their homes during the shift hours.
There's no flexibility. No vacation days. No swapping shifts with other officers.
It may be a way for the city to prevent fraud or abuse of the system.
The problem for Giusto and his fiancée was that their wedding reception was scheduled for Saturday, from 1-5 p.m. Giusto was scheduled for a shift on Saturday, from 4 p.m. to midnight.
Seeking to avoid having to leave his own wedding party early, Giusto asked for the night off - or for a change in his schedule.
The city said no, and said that would be illegal.
Giusto took the case to court.
The sides ended up settling.
The city agreed to let him stay at the wedding until 5 p.m. and miss the first hour of his shift.
