Bob Sirott's One More Thing about celeb tweets about the debate

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

One of the new, fun pass-times surrounding big event television is joining the conversation that springs up on social media, or even just reading it.

The first presidential debate was the most tweeted political event of all time. There were 10.3 million tweets; at one point 158,000 every minute. Among the thousands of tweets Tuesday, there are many from well-known personalities. Here are some of my favorites.

Steve Cochran tweeted: "Tie switch up! Romney blue, Obama Red. Game changer."

From Albert Brooks: "The people asking the qustions are scaring the hell out of me."

During an early heated exchange, the Tribune's Phil Rosenthal wondered if, "maybe the hand-held microphones are weapons."

Harold Ramis: "After the debate Candy Crowley is going to perform a few of her hits including California Dreamin' and Monday Monday."

A Roe Conn tweet: "Obama must have really liked that space jumping guy because he's clearly on Red Bull."

Katie Couric: "As a woman voter, I feel very wanted tonight!"

Piers Morgan said, "Obama hasn't looked down once while Romney is speaking. Must have read my tweets during last debate."

And, local radio news reporter Rob Hart tweeted this: "Les Grobstein is moderating debate number 4. All questions will be about Ray Meyer."

There used to be a time when the family gathered in one room to watch the same show all together. We don't do that anymore. But we're all on our computers and smart phones at the same time and we're brought together in cyberspace.
