CHICAGO (My50 Chicago) -
In recent years due to costs, The City of Evanston experienced a reduction in the availability of primary health care services for the uninsured and the underinsured.
In 2007, after providing health care services for more than 100 years, The Evanston Health Department eliminated all direct medical services, except pediatric dentistry.
In June, The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services awarded a grant to The Erie Family Health Center to open a community health center in Evanston.
And in August, NorthShore Evanston Hospital made a $1.8 million commitment.
Tomorrow, The Erie Evanston/Skokie Health Center will open at a temporary location at the Lorraine H. Morton Civic Center.
