Cardinal Francis George calls battle with cancer a gift

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
Cardinal Francis George talked about his battle with cancer during a service at Holy Name Cathedral on Sunday.
He said the illness is terrifying - but also a gift. He said it is a reminder of what's important in life.
The cardinal said it was also a reminder that people care about one another.
"It's a great joy and source of great encouragement and strength for me to receive so many cards so many cards and so many notes, many from some of you, that tell me that people are praying for me," Cardinal Francis George said.
The cardinal looked and sounded strong as he spoke and sang during the service. He said even bad things can be a source of richness
George has been diagnosed with cancer in his kidney and liver.
He thanked those who have prayed for him, and told the congregation he tries to pray, every evening, for them.
